Vanderbilt prediction time

by Robbie Andreu

Florida is coming off an emotional win over Georgia. Vanderbilt just got blasted at home by Georgia Tech, giving up 56 points. The Gators look like they’re starting to peak. The Commodores have been fading all season.

This has all the makings of a letdown game for Florida. But it’s so obvious that it won’t happen.

Yes, Vanderbilt has a pretty tough defense, and the Commodores are excited about what No. 2 quarterback Mackenzi Adams brings to the offense (the ability to move the ball through the air). The potential is there for a tough, grind it out game for the Gators. But that’s not going to happen. The Commodores simply don’t have enough talent to match up with Florida. If the Gators come ready to play, and they will, this game should be secured by halftime.

Why no letdown?

Because the Gators seem to have regained that same edge they had last season during their remarkable run down the stretch. The performance against Georgia a week ago is an obvious sign that this team is starting to get better, starting to play up to its potential. UF has started generating momentum, and it’s not going to be slowed by a 2-7 Vanderbilt team that lost to Army less than a month ago.

I think the offense is going to get on a roll in this game, and I look for the defense to pretty much shut down the Vandy offense, which has struggled to score throughout the season.

Letdown? Forget about it.

Prediction: Florida 45, Vanderbilt 10

I agree with your thoughts. One comment is, I hope that we see Hines, Hammond and Brantley more in the upcoming games.

This is the last home SEC game for a bunch of Gators. I also believe home field advantage really means something now with just two left on the schedule; The Gators will win both of those games and use them as confidence builders for USC and Florida State. Hand it to Urban Meyer and Staff; they know how and when to pull all the right strings with this team to keep’em focused and motivated in what could have been an otherwise distracting season. Watch for the Gators to add a few wrinkles in the 2nd half of the Vandy, FIU games. I believe Robbie’s prediction is real close on this one as long as they contain Adams passing.

Robbie, if Pat is Dr. Football, you should be Prof. Football! I agreed on your commentaries. Any thoughts on the fine imposed to Coach Meyer by Commish Slive?
    Go Gators!!!

Gators 48 Vandy 13. We should be into the 2nds and 3rds by mid 3rd quarter. Need to get Brantley some passing opportunities with the young recievers.
