Muschamp’s spring speaking tour
Florida coach Will Muschamp will be spending a considerable chunk of May on the road speaking to Gator Clubs around the state (and one in Atlanta). But Muschamp will not have to drive far to three of his speaking engagements. He will be speaking in Gainesville on three occasions — April 2 (Gainesville Quarterback Club, in his only engagement before the April 6 spring game); May 1 (Titletown Gator Club); and May 23 (Fighting Gator Touchdown Club).
Here’s the rest of Muschamp’s 10-stop speaking tour:
May 2 — Tampa Gator Club/Pinellas Gator Club.
May 7 — Polk County Gator Club in Lakeland.
May 8 — Central Florida Gator Club in Orlando.
May 14 — Gator Club of Jacksonville.
May 15 — Atlanta Gator Club.
May 20 — Jacksonville Quarterback Club.
TBD — Daytona Beach Gator Club.
Four of Muschamp’s assistant coaches also will be addressing Gator Clubs. Defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin is speaking at the Southwest Florida Gator Club in Fort Myers on May 6; wide receivers coach Joker Phillips will address the Palm Beach Gator Club on May 7; defensive line coach Bryant Young is speaking at the Panhandle Gator Club in Panama City on May 7; and offensive line coach Tim Davis will be at the Space Coast Gator Club in Brevard County on May 14.

Robbie Andreu has been The Sun’s college football beat writer since 1993. He covered every game of the Steve Spurrier coaching era. The only game he’s missed since he has been in Gainesville is the 2006 Florida State game in Tallahassee. He happily stayed home for that one because of the imminent birth of his second child. Before coming to The Sun in March of 1993, Andreu worked for the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel for 10 years, covering a variety of sports, including the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Hurricanes, professional golf and baseball (playoffs and World Series). He also worked in Clearwater and Bradenton. He graduated from UF in 1977.
Lets get fired up. New season, new goals, new coaches, new players…. I just love college football. Go Gators!

Troll Tide, don’t forget to come back when we win the SEC. All those years when we did kick your backs I bet you never came on here. All of the history is good, but its just that history. Each year stands for itself, and as it stands now you are SEC and NC and we as SEC TEAMS are happy for the league. REMEMBER you have to WIN each year to say you are the CHAMPION, you can’t bring your trophy with you and expect extra points to start out with, each one is earned that day on the field. GO GATORS!!!!

No Tally, Roll Tide is Robbie Andreu. Notice how Tide has stopped showing up in any message areas other than this one? All the other writers told him to stop.

Is there a reason why some of the more distant Gator Clubs can’t get any speaking engagements from Florida football coaches?
It would be a fantastic way to build even deeper support in outlying areas.
