The offense, led by a handful of young skill position players, hung a pretty good one on the defense Saturday morning with hundreds of high school coaches from the state looking on.

Here’s our look at five positions less than halfway through the spring: Tailback ” Junior Kestahn Moore is the veteran of the group and he’s performing like it. He’s been UF’s most consistent and complete back. Not only is he running the ball well, he’s doing his job in pass protection and catching the ball coming out of the backfield. At this point, he’s the solid No. 1 guy. Moore is never going to give the …

Even though the NFL Draft Advisory Committee provided information to Smith that he likely wouldn’t be taken on the first day of the draft (three rounds), Smith said he simply felt it was time to leave because he’d accomplished everything he’d set out to do in his one year with the Gators.
“I had my degree, first of all,” he said. “We won the national championship, I was All-SEC, All-American. I pretty much accomplished everything that I …

Several former Gators will spending some of their most important (and most pressure-packed) hours ever on Florida Field on Wednesday morning when they are tested by dozens of NFL coaches and scouts. The draftable Gators will be running the 40-yard dash and various other drills, along with lifting weights and doing the vertical jump. It’s probably a huge day for quarterback Chris Leak, who will have a chance to show the scouts he can make all the throws. …
