Everyone is ragging and complaining about the Florida offense after another sporadic performance in the loss to Ole Miss on Saturday. But to me, the biggest concern right now isn’t the offense, it’s the defense.

The more I think about Urban Meyer’s no-risk approach on offense, the more brilliant it seems.
Heading
into the season, there were still some serious questions about the
defense – at the tackle positions and in the secondary. Meyer and the
defensive coaches were confident the defense would be better than a

At his weekly press conference Monday,
Urban Meyer was talking about strong safety Ahmad Black and how
strength and conditioning coordinator Mickey Marotti has to stay on top
of him. “He’s 188 pounds, but he’s one of those guys that could be 178
tomorrow if Mickey doesn’t watch that,” Meyer said.
The slightly built Black has a tendency to go light quickly.

With this being the bye week, it seems like a good time reflect on what’s happened so far and what might lie ahead for the Gators.

not the offense we will see Saturday night against Miami.
