Florida State probably did Florida a huge favor by putting together its
best overall performance of the season in a 37-3 rout of Maryland on
Saturday night. Urban Meyer and the Gators watched that game and were
impressed. Now, No. 2 Florida is on full upset alert.
Had the Seminoles messed around in that game and looked sloppy (or even lost), the Gators might have been taking FSU a little more lightly than they should in a rivalry game like this one. …

My vote for Florida’s assistant coach of the year goes to defensive coordinator Charlie Strong, who has done a remarkable job bringing this defense along and making it one of the best in the nation.
Urban Meyer has recognized Strong’s work in recent weeks, saying what a great job he has done developing players and calling games. Last Saturday’s game was huge for Strong, the way he kept mixing things up and kept Steve Spurrier’s offense off balance and …

So far this season, my pregame feelings have pretty much been right on.
I
had a feeling Ole Miss was going to cause major problems, especially
quarterback Jevan Snead, and Snead threw a long touchdown pass in the
fourth quarter and the Rebels escaped The Swamp with a 31-30 upset
victory, the Gators’ only loss of the season.

I’m really not into this kind of
stuff, but I’m starting to see signs that maybe the Gators are destined
to make it to Miami for the national championship game.
