With SEC Media Days coming to a close Friday, we’re offering up these final observations from Hoover, Ala.
* I’ve been covering SEC Media Days since 1992, and this was the craziest one yet. By far. This Tebow-gate thing was absolutely surreal, with coach after coach coming to the podium and revealing whether or not they voted for Tim Tebow on the preseason All-SEC first team. HOOVER, Ala. — Georgia coach Mark Richt is going into his ninth season in Athens, making him the dean of SEC football coaches.
Listening to Richt at SEC Media Days, it’s obvious he would like to remain at Georgia for many more years. Kind of like his mentor, Bobby Bowden, has done at Florida State, where Richt was an assistant for 15 years.

HOOVER, Ala. — For the past several days there has been much speculation around the league as to who the SEC coach might be that did not vote for Tebow on the coaches’ preseason all-conference team.
Some have said it was Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin, but he denied it at a press conference Monday in Knoxville. Not only did he confirm he voted for Tebow, he then heaped praise on the Florida quarterback. South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier also said …

I had a chance to sit down with No. 2 quarterback John Brantley for about 20 minutes for a story I’m working on that will run at a later date in the paper.
