I think everyone knows this is a game Florida should, and will, win quite handily.
The interesting aspect to me is how many of these young players are going to get into the game fairly early and gain their first significant playing time. I think Tim Tebow will retire to the bench before halftime, making this a John Brantley game. What I would like to see is Brantley getting playing time with the No. 1 line and some of the … Read More »

Keep an eye on these guys
Because they don’t know how the game will play out in the first half Saturday against Florida International, the Florida coaches don’t really have a set plan for when John Brantley and some of the young players replace the starters.
But it’s going to happen at some point against a team that’s giving up more than 400 yards a game to opposing offenses.
With that in mind, here are some young guys to keep an eye out for Saturday in The Swamp:
Brantley … Read More »

Tebow says title more important than Heisman
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow’s numbers are down from a year ago, and he seems to be doing a slow fade in the Heisman race despite leading an undefeated and top-ranked team.
While others may be worrying about Tebow’s Heisman chances, he is not. He made it clear Monday that his focus is on something else. Like winning the next three games and having a chance to play for the national championship for the third time in his four seasons at … Read More »

South Carolina prediction time
I’m sensing the upset. I can feel it, and I’m close to pulling the trigger on it. But I can’t. This Florida team will find a way to slug out another victory.

Offensive numbers tell a different story
Anyone who has watched Florida play this seasons knows the Gators are struggling on offense. They’ve had problems in the red zone, the passing game has been ineffective at times, they’ve had a hard time finishing drives, and they’ve left a whole bunch of points on the field.

Spurrier slight no big deal to Tebow
At SEC Media Days in Birmingham in late July, the biggest story of the week became Steve Spurrier’s perceived slight of Tim Tebow. Spurrier left the All-America quarterback off his preseason All-SEC ballot, and it mushroomed into national news.
How could one Florida Heisman-winning quarterback leave another Florida Heisman-winning quarterback off his ballot? Everyone pounced on the story.
It became a real controversy, with Spurrier standing up at the podium and apologizing when he arrived at the event the following … Read More »

Vanderbilt prediction time
Florida is coming off an emotional win over Georgia. Vanderbilt just got blasted at home by Georgia Tech, giving up 56 points. The Gators look like they’re starting to peak. The Commodores have been fading all season.
This has all the makings of a letdown game for Florida. But it’s so obvious that it won’t happen.
Yes, Vanderbilt has a pretty tough defense, and the Commodores are excited about what No. 2 quarterback Mackenzi Adams brings to the offense (the … Read More »

Hammond, Hines see the field
Early in the season, it looked like Florida’s three promising redshirt freshmen receivers (Frankie Hammond Jr., Omarius Hines and T.J. Lawrence) were going to have a chance to contribute this season and give the Gators some much-needed depth at wide receiver.
Then, they disappeared. Hines caught a few passes early, then faded away. Hammond got some playing time, then he too disappeared. Lawrence got a handful of plays, but now is out for the season after injuring his knee.
The week before … Read More »

More Tebow under center coming?
Two games in a row now, the Gators have had success in the red zone with quarterback Tim Tebow lining up under center. The Gators scored a touchdown from the formation against Mississippi State two weeks ago, with Chris Rainey taking a hand-off from Tebow and going in untouched from 8 yards out. UF set up a 5-yard TD run by Tebow against Georgia after two consecutive Jeff Demps runs with Tebow under center.
It’s working, so we’ll probably see … Read More »
